Deslagging Agent
Product Overview
During the melting of cast iron, cast steel and non-ferrous alloys, metal oxides and slag are continuously generated on the molten metal surface. If slag is not removed cleanly, it enters the mold cavity with the molten metal and forms slag holes, slag inclusions and wrinkled skin on the casting surface, in serious cases leading to scrap.
Our deslagging agent uses premium expanded perlite / volcanic glass raw materials, produced by graded roasting and grain shaping. Spread on the surface of molten iron or steel, it spreads within seconds, aggregating scattered slag points into a loose slag band. Slag is raked off cleanly without sticking to the ladle wall or furnace lining, significantly reducing the labour intensity of slag raking and the metal loss carried away with slag.
Product Features
- ✓Fast spreading (≤10 seconds), quickly forming a complete slag-collecting cover layer
- ✓Strong slag-coagulating ability, aggregating dispersed slag into one mass for one-time raking
- ✓Does not stick to the ladle wall or erode the furnace lining, extending ladle and furnace life
- ✓Also acts as an insulating cover, reducing heat loss and oxidation of the molten metal
- ✓Small addition rate (only 0.2%-0.5% of the molten metal), lowering overall cost
- ✓Low fume and no odour, improving the workshop environment

Available Grain Sizes
Medium grain is the most common, suitable for slag raking in general gray iron and ductile iron ladles. Fine grain spreads more delicately, suitable for precision raking in small ladles. Coarse grain resists scouring, suitable for large-tonnage ladles and molten steel deslagging.
How to Use
- Spread after melt-down:After the metal is fully melted and the initial slag raked off, evenly spread a thin layer of deslagging agent on the surface (a covering layer about 2-3 mm thick).
- Let it stand to coagulate:Let it stand briefly so the deslagging agent spreads fully and aggregates slag and inclusions on the surface.
- Slag raking:Use a slag raking tool to pull the coagulated slag band out along the ladle wall in one go; the slag comes out as a loose mass without scattering or sticking.
- Covering during tapping:During tapping and transfer, a small amount of deslagging agent can be spread again for insulation; rake clean before pouring.
- Ductile iron treatment:Use after slag raking in nodularization treatment; can be combined with a covering agent to prevent sulfur pick-up and oxidation.
Packaging, Storage & Transport
25 kg woven bags (with waterproof liner) or 500 kg jumbo bags. Store in a dry warehouse and strictly protect from moisture; caked product due to moisture still performs normally after drying and screening. Standard stock is ample and dispatch can be arranged at any time.
